Advanced Contemporary – Ages 11 & up; 3+ years of Ballet experience

HIP HOP
Advanced Hip Hop –– Ages 11 & up; 3+ years of experience

Int/ Adv Levels ages 10+

Int Ballet & Lyrical Clinic- Why, when, who, what, and how: Everything you need to know about Ballet for three days! Fundamental exercises of ballet introduced while maintaining an emphasis on musicality, development of overall body strength, alignment, and the joy of moving. Our Beg/Int Ballet Clinic will provide education on popular ballet stories, set and costume design, music study and choreography, and the breakdown of French Ballet terminology. This class will also include Lyrical and Contemporary Work. 

June 27-29th Ages 8+ Int Ballet/Lyrical 6:00-6:45pm $48.00

 

Int Jazz/Hip Hop Clinic -This fun 3 day class combines upbeat, stylized movement with proper technique. Jazz dance is based on ballet principles with each class consisting of a warm-up using isolated movements, across the floor progressions, and current choreography all set to age appropriate music. Some Commercial dance will be explored. 

June 27-29 Ages 8+ Int. Jazz /Hip Hop 6:45-7:30pm $48.00

Int/Adv Ballet-Lyrical Clinic Ballet is the foundation of dance; every dance form uses ballet positions and vocabulary. Ballet classes are progressive classes that move slowly to learn and develop proper technique. This 3 day clinic will reinforce good habits, and placement. As well as, strengthen connection and performance skills. Ballet is not a supplement for any other dance forms, it is the substance. Technique, choreography, and terminology are taught at every level. Conditioning and flexibility training, and theater are introduced. Contemporary and Lyrical movement will be included Female Students must wear pink tights, leotard and pink ballet shoes. Male dancers wear black sweatpants, white tee- shirt and black ballet shoes. Hair must be fastened away from the face, preferably in a bun. 

July 18-20 ages 9+ Int./Adv. Ballet/Lyrical 5:15-6:00 pm $48.00 per session

Int./Adv. Tap Clinic- Our program has been curated to connect the past to the present and delve into the future of this art form. Classes include tap fundamentals and historic forms, contemporary techniques, and the cutting-edge new styles. Classes are designed to perfect tap technique, and expand the student’s knowledge of tap repertoire. An improvisation portion of class will encourage students to experiment with their own movement. The SDA Int/Adv Tap clinic is designed to give the serious tap student the full picture of what tap was and has evolved into in the 21st century. Join us this summer!

Int./Adv. Jumps and Turns Just like the title says: All things jumping and Turning. While jumping and turning does not make a great dancer ,a polished dancer knows the mechanics of Jumping and Turning. Come learn how to incorporate your turns and jumps into your dancing the SDA Way. Balance, Posture, and the correct way to leave and return to the floor will be explored in this 3 day clinic. 

July 25-27 ages 9+ Int./Adv. Jumps and Turns 7:45-8:30pm $48.00 per session

Spotlight Dance Academy offers a summer study program as an opportunity for our students to continue to study dance over the summer months and grow as artists.

Our drop in class series is for dancers looking to greatly elevate their dance education. This series will include techniques of contemporary, improv, hip hop, jazz, tap, musical theater, and specialty training for developing artists. Dancers will explore new ideas of movement and artistic excellence, harvesting a love of dance within versatility. Each dancer is immersed in the various forms of dance to create the ideal well rounded dancer. Dancers will be challenged technically and artistically through a wide variety of classes taught by the SDA faculty and Guest Artists

Drop in classes allow for flexibility in busy summer scheduling, and choice of discipline. Take some, or Take all. New class material is taught in each class.

Register online through this page, call the studio 616-850-0060

Tuition for summer classes will be automatically charged to the primary card on file on the morning of the dancer’s scheduled class.

If you would like to pay by cash or check, you must deposit your payment into the designated drop box outside the building by the front door BEFORE the day of your dancer’s class.

If a cash or check payment is not received by 12:00 pm on the day of your dancer’s class, your card on file will be charged for the class’s tuition. There will be no discounts given for cash or check payments for summer tuition.

Class reservations may be canceled up to 24 hours before the start of the class at no charge.

Class reservations may be canceled within 24 hours before the start of the class with a late-cancellation fee of $10.00.

The remaining class tuition will not be charged to your account.

Class tuition for missed class reservations without canceling is not subject to refunds or credits.
